Designated Funds Established
|
|
The
Arrow Education Foundation has endowed and
depository
Enrichment Grant Funds which will enhance educational
opportunities for years to come.
Named,
designated funds have been established by family and friends in honor of or in
memory of loved ones and friends or to support specific areas.
Businesses are
establishing endowed funds through the Seed Fund Option.
Individual
donations are welcome for all of the Funds. To establish a fund with the Arrow
Education Foundation contact the Foundation.

Marlys D Bunde Elementary
Education Fund
|
|
The
Marlys D Bunde Elementary Education
Fund was established to enhance educational opportunities for K– 6 students
in the district.
Miss Bunde graduated from WHS in 1963.
She cared passionately for children, teaching kindergarten for 34
years in Chokio and Willmar,
Minnesota. She
enjoyed travel, being on the family farm, baking and gardening.
She passed away in 2005. Miss Bunde’s remaining family includes
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar and Eleanore (Stein) ’39 Bunde, and her brother
and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Merlin ’60 and Darlis (Britzman) ’63 Bunde.

Dorothy Goose Krull Funds
|
|
|
Dorothy Goose Krull provided funds in
four educational areas in her bequest to the Foundation. They are
library, music, industrial technology, and forensics/speech.
WHS students from 1942 to 1974 may remember
Mrs. Goose as a teacher of speech, English and music, and finally as the WHS
librarian. She enjoyed music, drama, travel and gardening.
Mrs. Krull’s family
includes the children of her late husband Jake Krull, Sr.
The
Dorothy Goose Krull Forensics/Speech
Fund, will enhance experiences for debate and interpretation
students.
The
Dorothy Goose Krull Library Depositary Fund
was used to provide the WHS library with contemporary student centered
furnishings books, and a computer.
The
Dorothy Goose Krull Depositary Music Fund provides
grants to support music activates at all levels. The fund has been used to buy musical
instruments to be loaded to elementary students.

Harry Goose
Industrial Technology Fund
|
|
|
The
Harry Goose Industrial Technology Fund was established in honor of Mrs.
Krull’s first husband. Mr. Goose was an industrial arts instructor at
both the Junior and Senior High Schools from 1949 to 1979. Grants will
be awarded to enhance industrial technology education.

The Kenneth B and Myrtle F. (Mickey) Way
Fund for Arts and
Culture
|
|
|
The
Kenneth B and
Myrtle F. (Mickey) Way Fund for Arts and Culture was established by the
Watertown Community Foundation in memory of the Ways. Mr. Way, class of '24, and his wife
Mickey were patrons of the arts in Watertown.
This fund is the first in what we hope will be many funds to support arts and
culture programs and experiences for the students in the district.

Rukstad and Collins Forensics Fund
|
|
|
The
Rukstad
and Collins Forensics Fund was named by donor Nancy Turbak Berry '72 for the
late Mike Rukstad ’72 and the late Bob Collins ‘72, who were outstanding
debaters from 1969 - 72. The purpose of this fund is to enhance the
opportunities of Watertown
High School students to
participate in interscholastic forensics and to promote their participation in
such activities.

Marty Kranz Health and Physical Education Grant Fund
|
|
|
The
Marty Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who exemplifies
Marty’s character and spirit, with priority given to a person who has
participated in athletics.
Martin (Marty) James Allen
Kranz graduated from WHS in 2002 and from SDSU in 2007 with a degree in Health,
Physical Education, and Recreation. As a
former WHS three sport athlete and SDSU football player, Marty began his
teaching career in Clear Lake and his goal was to teach and coach in the Watertown School District.
Marty challenged everyone,
from those in his personal relationships to his students, to do their best, to
live with honor and integrity, and to be better. He was a man of true character, treating
everyone with respect and kindness.

Scholarship has been established in Marty’s memory by his family and friends,
including his wife Stefanie (Petersen) Kranz ‘03; his parents Matt ‘70 and Judy
Kranz; his parents-in-law Dave and Mary Petersen; five brothers, Marvin ‘91 and
Jennifer, Mark ‘93 and Stacey, Matti ‘95 and Christie (Reiffenberger) ’95, Mike
’00 and Julie, and Mitch ’06; his two sisters, Michele ’94 and Scott Bares
and Maria ’97 and Eddy Roesch; two brothers-in-law Tony ’01 and Nick ’05
Petersen; and many extended family members.

Dan Albertsen
Watertown Middle School Fund |
|
|
The
Dan Albertsen Watertown Middle School Fund
was established to celebrate Mr. Albertsen’s forty years of teaching and
serving as principal of the Watertown
Middle School. Dan’s family established the fund in his name
with the Arrow Education Foundation. The
Albersten Watertown Middle School Fund will provide grants for teachers and
staff who have great ideas for innovation in education at Watertown Middle School.
In 1970,
Dan came to Watertown
Middle School as
assistant principal and became principal in 1982. He is well known in the community and state
for his activities in the service of youth and education. Guiding Dan’s actions has been the motto,
"
It’s all about what is best for kids.”
Watertown Middle School colleagues surprised Dan with a donation of over $1,300
and former students and friends have generously contributed to the fund.

family includes his wife, Sandy, and children, John and Lisa (Albertsen) ‘88 Reinschmidt,
Tim ‘92 and Aundrea Albertsen, and Michael and Jill (Albertsen) ‘96 Sarraino. |

Neil Luken Athletic Enrichment
Fund
|
|
|
The family of Neil Luken has
established a fund to provide additional athletic enrichment activities for
girls and boys in the Watertown
School District.
Neil was an avid supporter of Arrow athletics, especially
boys basketball where he served as scorekeeper for 20 years. As president of the Quarterback Club, Neil
played a major role in fund raising for the wooden floor construction in the
Civic Arena.
Neil lost
his battle with cancer on July 16, 2010.
He is survived by his wife Leah, Sarah ’02, Eric ’10, Jason Hutt ’97 and
Lisa (Luken) Cecchini.
